Two brothers have been sentenced to three years in prison for their roles in violent islamophobic riots in Rotherham earlier this month.

Luke and Paul Sissons were involved in violent incidents outside the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers on August 4, where over 200 asylum seekers were housed. The court heard evidence of their aggressive behavior towards police and the destruction of property.

Footage shown in court captured a range of violent actions by the brothers, including attacking a police dog van and shouting derogatory remarks about immigrants. Both brothers were sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court for their participation in what was described as one of the worst examples of violent disorder.

The violence caused extensive damage to the hotel, with windows smashed and confrontations with riot officers. The judge emphasized the persistent nature of the disorder and the impact of their actions on the community.

In addition to the Sissons brothers, Christopher Rogers, who filmed the incidents, was also sentenced to two years for violent disorder. The court is addressing the ongoing concerns surrounding such acts of violence and their implications for community safety.
